Client Background


The Electrical Support Services department is responsible for Civil Projects and Maintenance, Corrosion Protection, Electrical projects and Transformer refurbishment for the City of Cape Town’s Electricity Directorate.

Key challenges / Project background

The PRAGMA intervention

In June 2007 Pragma Africa was contracted to establish an Asset Care Centre (ACC). The initial activity involved the assessment of the departments Asset Management maturity. From this assessment an Asset Management Improvement Program (AMiP) was developed. The day to day facilitation and delivery of the Improvement program was driven through the ACC which was established on the ESS premises and staffed by Pragma. Below are some of the ACC duties.

  • Redeployment of ESS resources from internal work to contract management / supervision

  • Method study and an integrated management system,
  • System analysis and optimization to better align SAP Project Systems and SAP Plant Maintenance to business requirements.
