Cullinan Diamond Mine was acquired by Petra Diamonds from De Beers in July 2008 and they had to move from a SAP ERP and planned maintenance environment to a new integrated system solution.

	Key challenges / Project background Petra Diamonds Cullinan approached Pragma because the previous maintenance planning system could not meet their requirements. On investigation it was found that Pragma is very user friendly and most of the Cullinan Diamond Mine employees have had experience with Pragma asset management under De Beers' ownership when Pragma was contracted to deliver Asset Management Improvement Planning (AMIP) and Pragma Academy asset management courses. The challenge was to collect all the lost data from the previous maintenance systems and to configure On Key in line with the Petra Diamonds Cullinan Mine culture and 'way of doing things', and most importantly to get buy-in from all users. The PRAGMA intervention Pragma started implementing the On Key Enterprise Asset Management System in August 2009. Asset information was collected from SAP, Excel and their previous maintenance program, and then imported and configured in On Key. The implementation and training was completed and signed off in June 2010. Petra Diamonds Cullinan is currently utilising the ad hoc Asset Care Centre service of a Pragma asset care engineer on a monthly basis. Business Processes & Best Practices Together with Petra Diamonds Cullinan, we implemented the different On Key asset management modules in line with our business processes and best practices.	Tools & Technology The following On Key Enterprise Asset Management Modules were implemented: Asset Management Module, to build and maintain a comprehensive asset register. Maintenance Manager Module, to manage the life cycle of asset-related work (tactical and non-tactical). Interface with ERP system is in the decision-making phase Performance Improvement "Difficult to quantify in ZAR or performances, the system is working much easier as a tool for all. Take note that for many years we were using asset management, with or without a computerised system.
