Pragma signs agreement with QlikTech

Top international physical asset management company, Pragma, has signed an agreement with QlikTech, a leader in Business Discovery – user-driven Business Intelligence (BI).

QlikView will be embedded within Pragma’s On Key 5. The brand new Analytics module, as it will be known, will give Pragma’s On Key users the ability to analyse asset management information in a dynamic and flexible manner.

Says Davide Hanan, of QlikView: “QlikView is the world’s leading Business Discovery platform, defining what is next in Business Intelligence. Its patented in-memory associative technology has changed the way in which users work with information. It has pioneered the self-service Business Intelligence (BI) category, allowing users to explore information freely rather than being confined to the predefined path provided with traditional reports.”

Hanan continues: “Organisations are rapidly embracing the idea of providing data to users and empowering them with an ability to navigate and visualise the data as an alternative to a report-only architecture. This ensures that users understand what is happening, why it is happening and then take corrective action if necessary. QlikView enables this approach and empowers workers at all levels to ask and answer questions they could not predict in advance. With its collaboration and mobile capabilities, QlikView allows users to ask these questions on their own or in teams and groups, wherever they happen to be working.”

Dirk Janse van Rensburg, ACC Tools Manager at Pragma, adds: “Research has shown us that the On Key user base requires an online analysis platform that will allow them to do in depth analysis on asset management information. After thorough research, QlikView was identified as the BI solutionthat best suits the needs of the On Key user base. The aim from the beginning was to create a partnership and deliver BI capabilities as part of On Key. This will allow Pragma to deliver a top class BI platform for the asset management users at our clients, irrespective if the client has a corporate BI strategy in place.”

With QlikView embedded in On Key, it will add world-class business intelligence capabilities and leverage new technologies as it become available. Says Janse van Rensburg: “It will be branded as a new module in On Key called Analytics. The current platform delivers preformatted reports. This remains very important, but it has limitations when faced with the need to do analysis other than what the preformatted report was designed for. With QlikView, users will be exposed to a new world of analysis and business intelligence functionality. SSRS will remain the preferred technology for preformatted reports that would typically need to be printed out. However, there will be a huge drive to move towards online analysis in Analytics. Users want to move away from printed reports and start using an analysis platform that they can customise. A second phase would see asset management information not in On Key incorporated into Analytics. This will give the users a holistic view on the asset management information across multiple information systems.”

According to Janse van Rensburg, this will hold many long-term benefits for Pragma and its clients. “Pragma will use world class BI capabilities as part of its ACC service. This will increase the accuracy and efficiency of the ACC service, and it will allow the AC Engineers to do better analysis, which will translate into improvement initiatives based on quantitative evidence. New features that will be introduced by Analytics are dashboarding, interactive visualisation (like maps), collaboration functionality and online analytical processing.”

Janse van Rensburg adds: “Clients will welcome the accessibility to their data that Analytics will bring, as well as the holistic Asset Management perspective that it will give. Analytics is accessible on the web as part of On Key, and can be accessed with mobile devices. This will give clients the ability to make informed decisions based on analysis. The simplicity, with which analysis can be executed, will have a huge efficiency impact on Asset Care practitioners reliant in information. By having a better ability to interpret data, improvement initiatives can be focused on critical items where most value can be extracted.Analytics will be available to all On Key users.”

Hanan concludes: “We’re delighted to be associated with Pragma. Through the combined capabilities of On Key’s asset management and QlikView’s analytics, users will have the most powerful tool to optimise the performance of their assets.”
