South Africa and the Netherlands join forces in maintenance and logistics

With Prime Minister Mark Rutte of the Netherlands at our side, Pragma and Gordian Logistic Experts officially joined forces in spare parts and asset management. With this partnership we aim to create more business opportunities, jobs and innovative solutions in South Africa, the Netherlands and beyond.

The official signing between Pragma and Gordian took place as part of an initiative between South Africa and the Netherlands to elevate their longstanding relations on Tuesday evening, 17 November 2015. Whilst the main event focused on trade and investment, Pragma and Gordian’s partnership brings together expertise in innovation in service logistics and sustainable asset management.

In today’s society, technical software systems and equipment are vital to maintain efficient business operations. Operating these assets at their optimum requires excellence in the fields of asset management of which spare parts management is a key ingredient.

Founded in 1990, Pragma delivers integrated physical asset management solutions globally, through offices and partnerships in Africa, Australia, South America and Europe. By joining hands with Gordian Logistics Experts of the Netherlands, specialists in spare parts management, we are able to create a synergised proposition. By complementing each other’s strengths, the partnership between Pragma and Gordian allows us to cover a broader scope in the market while still offering specialised solutions in each field of expertise.

As part of the signed partnership agreement to deliver these complementary solutions, both companies will enter each other’s markets to expand their services. The partnership includes:

  • Establishing Gordian Logistics Experts SA (Pty) Limited; reciprocally Pragma will invest in a European base supported by Gordian, with the aim to create 30 – 50 jobs across the two continents.
  • Joint development in software, methodologies and training.
  • Joint organisation of marketing events, such as the Business Meets Science seminars on spare parts management in Africa.

The partnership has been supported by TKI Dinalog (Dutch Institute for Advanced Logistics) in view of international value creation of Dutch expertise in service logistics.
